You Asked For It! Week 2: What does the Bible say about end times? July 21-25

The end-times narrative is a recurring theme in popular culture, from movies and books to video games, reflecting and potentially amplifying our fascination with this topic. Current events in Iran and Israel have ramped up the questions about end times. Are we living in the last days? Is Jesus coming back soon?  This week, we will explore these questions and see what Scriptures say.

Put It into Practice: Being ready for Christ’s return isn’t just personal—it’s evangelistic. Prepare your testimony of why Christ’s return gives you hope and helps you live a godly life free of fear, and ask Him to bring a name to your mind with whom you need to share it.

Day 1      Hebrews 1:1–4; Acts 2:14–21

Reflect: The Bible teaches that the “last days” began with Christ’s first coming and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. How do you see that reflected in these passages? Have you considered that before?

Apply:  What do you think would change if you started living with the awareness that you’re already in the “last days”? How would it shape the way you pray, serve, and witness?

Pray:     Heavenly Father, thank you for the message of salvation and grace through the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You that all who believe in Him will not be condemned but have everlasting life. Give me a heart for the unsaved and use me to tell others of Your amazing plan of redemption.

Day 2      Matthew 24:3–14; Mark 13:21–23

Reflect: Jesus warns His followers against false predictions and premature conclusions about the end. What signs does Jesus say are not indicators that the end is near? Why does Jesus warn against trusting self-proclaimed prophets or timelines?

Apply:    Have you been drawn toward fear-based or speculative teachings? Why or why not? How can you focus on Christ’s call to endurance and truth in a noisy world?

Pray:      Father God, please keep my eyes open to Your truth and keep my spiritual discernment sharp so that I am not deceived by anything regarding Jesus’ will for my life or His glorious return.

Day 3      Luke 17:20–37; Matthew 13:31–33

Reflect: Jesus teaches that His kingdom grows quietly, not apocalyptically. How does Jesus contrast flashy “signs” with the invisible work of the kingdom? Is Jesus affirming the rapture?

Apply:   What surprises you about how ordinary life continues even at the end? How can you cultivate faithful, ordinary obedience while waiting for Christ’s return?

Pray:    Abba Father, thank You that Jesus is coming back soon for His church! Help me to be ready for Christ’s return to rescue all Your children from the wrath to come and to be with You for eternity!

Day 4      2 Peter 3:1–13; Matthew 24:36–44

Reflect: Though the end will come suddenly, believers are called to stay awake, not by predicting the future, but by living holy and godly lives. What does Peter say about the reason for God’s delay?

Apply: What distractions or sins keep you spiritually “asleep”? How can you live with hope and readiness without panic or obsession?

Pray:    Almighty God, how wonderful You are! Thank You that You are the same yesterday, today and forever. Give me patience as I expectantly wait for Your return to claim Your Bride, knowing that Your timing is perfect. May I rest in You, knowing my times are in Your hands.

Day 5      1 Thessalonians 5:1–11; Revelation 22:7-21

Reflect:  The greatest promise of the end is not when it will happen, but who will return—Jesus. What comfort does Jesus offer to those longing for clarity and peace?

Apply:    How does Paul encourage us to live awake or alert and filled with hope? How does the promise “Surely I am coming soon” in Revelation 22 comfort or challenge you personally?

Pray:       Lord, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. May my life be filled with You, and lived for Your glory, and may Your praise be forever on my lips!
