The Book of John – Week 12: Secure in His Hands | June 22–26

Jesus is confronted to declare plainly whether He is the Messiah, but He reveals that the issue is not clarity—it is belief. His works testify to His identity, yet many refuse to trust Him. Jesus promises that His sheep are known, secure, and eternally held in His hands, emphasizing His unity with the Father. This passage underscores that belief is central to John’s Gospel—moving beyond intellectual agreement to trust and follow Christ. While some resist, others believe and find life. The call is clear: listen to His voice, believe, and rest in His unshakable security.

Put It into Practice: Strengthen your belief through evidence. Reflect on (or write down) ways you’ve seen God work in your life—let His “works” reinforce your trust. When anxiety or doubt hits, repeat: “I am in His hand—no one can snatch me away.”

Day 1 John 10:22-30

Reflect: The crowd asks Jesus to confirm His identity. Why does He say the issue is not a lack of clarity but a lack of belief? Why does He point to His “works” rather than giving a verbal confirmation?

Apply: Describe what verses 28-29 mean to you. What would it take for you to grow in confidence that you are known and held by Christ? When fear or doubt arises, what promises can you claim?

Pray: Lord Jesus, I thank You that in a world full of noise and uncertainty, You call me by name and offer the security of Your flock. I place my trust in You, knowing that nothing or no one can snatch me out of Your hand.

Day 2 John 10:31-42

Reflect: Why do Jesus’ claims provoke strong resistance, even in the face of His works? What are some ways people today “stone” the truth of the gospel? Why is it so hard to believe Jesus is God?

Apply: Where might you be resisting something that Jesus is showing you because it challenges you? Where is your faith and trust in Him the weakest? What would it take for you to trust Jesus more fully?

Pray: Jesus, I come before You acknowledging You as the Son of God, one with the Father. Open my eyes to see Your presence in my life, that I may know You are in the Father and the Father is in You.

Day 3 Psalm 95:1–7

Reflect: What is the relationship between worship, joy, and recognizing God as our Shepherd? What does this psalm reveal about the posture of a heart that truly belongs to God?

Apply: “If only you would listen to His voice today!” (v. 7) What could happen if you listened, not just today, but every day? How could bowing down in worship alter your thoughts, emotions, and actions?

Pray: Lord, I ask that You keep my heart soft, that I hear Your voice and obey Your guidance. Keep me from taking Your provisions for granted, and help me to trust in You, my loving Shepherd.

Day 4 Colossians 1:15–20

Reflect: What aspects of Jesus’ identity in this text deepen your understanding of who He is? How does seeing Jesus as supreme over all creation shape your trust in Him? Your obedience to Him?

Apply: How do verses 15 and 19 change how you see Jesus and the Father? How can you practically acknowledge Christ’s supremacy in your daily life? Where do you need to surrender to His Lordship?

Pray: Heavenly Father, You have revealed Your glory through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of Your invisible presence. I thank You that through Christ’s blood shed on the cross, You have made peace and reconciled all things to Yourself.

Day 5 Romans 8:31–39

Reflect: What stands out about the certainty and confidence expressed here? What does it mean to you to be “more than conquerors”? How does God’s love in Christ address fear, insecurity, or doubt?

Apply: How does this text speak to being “Secure in His Hands?” Where have you experienced greater confidence in Christ this week? Have you had more peace and less worry, fear, or doubt?

Pray: Father God, thank You for the incredible promise of Your Word. I feel secure in the knowledge that there is absolutely nothing that can separate me from Your love – not my failures, fears, nor any power in heaven or earth. I am safe in Your hands!
