Path to Worship – Week 6: The Holy of Holies | February 2–6

The Holy of Holies was the most sacred space in the tabernacle, hidden behind a thick veil that symbolized the unbridgeable divide between a holy God and sinful people. Only the high priest could enter, and only once a year. But when Jesus breathed His last, that veil was torn from top to bottom. The separation ended. The climax of worship is not what we bring to God, but what He opened for us: direct, confident access to His presence.

Put It into Practice: Spend one quiet moment each day consciously stepping into God’s presence by praying: “Because of Jesus, the way is open.” If you are hesitant to draw near, ask God why.

Day 1 Exodus 26:31–33; Leviticus 16:1-10

Reflect: What does the veil teach you about the seriousness of God’s holiness? Why was the high priest required to follow exact instructions before entering the Holy of Holies?

Apply: What areas of your life feel “off-limits” to God, and why? What emotions or thoughts arise when you consider a God who both separates and invites?

Pray: Lord, I desire to move beyond the outer court of mere rituals and into the intimate fellowship You offer. Help me to recognize the sacred boundaries You’ve set, to approach You with reverence and awe.

Day 2 Matthew 27:45-53

Reflect: What details in this passage emphasize the power of this moment? How does Jesus’ death transform your understanding of access to God? What does the tearing of the veil say about God?

Apply: Where do you still live as if the veil is intact, believing God is distant or unapproachable? How might the truth of the torn veil, being torn from top to bottom, change how you pray today?

Pray: Thank You, Father God, for Your immense love for me, as shown by what Jesus did on the cross; the veil was torn, and I was given direct access to You.

Day 3 Hebrews 9:1-10

Reflect: What limitations do you notice in the old system of worship? Why do you think the Holy Spirit used the old covenant to “illustrate” a deeper truth?

Apply: Where do you find yourself slipping back into patterns of “earning” or religious performance? What step can you take today that reflects life in the new covenant rather than the old?

Pray: Lord Jesus, thank You for being the perfect High Priest and the ultimate sacrifice. Thank You for offering Yourself once for all, removing sin and opening the way for me to draw near to You.

Day 4 Hebrews 10:19–22

Reflect: What does it mean to you to enter God’s presence “with confidence”? How does Jesus’ body being described as the veil deepen your understanding of the cross?

Apply: Why are sincerity, faith, cleansing, and hope essential to approaching God? What spiritual practice helps your heart stay sincere, clean, and anchored? Do you feel covered in Jesus’ blood?

Pray: Lord, I come to You now with a true heart, my conscience cleansed by the blood of Jesus, and my body washed by pure water. May my life be a testimony of this bold access, and may I never neglect coming into Your presence.

Day 5 Romans 8:38-39

Reflect: How does knowing you cannot be separated from God reshape the way you think about entering His presence? Which of the things Paul lists in this text most resonates with your fears?

Apply: What would change if you really believed that nothing can separate you from God’s love? What lie or fear keeps trying to convince you that God is distant? Confront it with this Scripture.

Pray: Heavenly Father, I come to You today, filled with awe at Your promise in Romans 8:38-39. I thank You that nothing in all creation—no fear, no trial, no future uncertainty, no past failure—can ever separate me from Your incredible, boundless love in Christ Jesus.
